Birthday Wishes

Wow, did January fly by or what? February is just knocking on the door...where does the time go?

I'll tell you where my time went last night...it went into playing with the new Tuesday Trigger over at the Moxie Fab World. OH EM GEE I am in love with it!  Take a peak....

This Tuesday Trigger is even more special because we are celebrating Cath's mom!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Yes, I am one of those people who calls everyone's  mom - mom. =)

So here is my take...I wanted to create a fun, whimsical card. I was inspired by the colors and flashes
of white in the inspiration photo. I am so in love with my card!

I started with a white base and Kraft cardstock layer. I then stamped out flowers from the Printed Petals set (Stampin' Up) and fussy cut them. I used different size buttons, rhinestones and small pearls for embellishments. There's 19 of them in all!

The white doily lace is actually cut from a round doily. I just trimmed off the pieces I wanted and then arranged them as banners and cut some as leaves.  Lastly, I faux stitched the edges and added some filigree and dot doodles to give it more of a homemade feel.

To be perfectly honest, I was completely giddy when I finished this card. It's not a design I would've come up with on my own, so thank you Cath for helping me think and work outside my comfort zone.

Thanks for stopping by today, any comments are greatly and warmly appreciated!
Have an amazing day!

Candyland

I went through a board game phase in my early 20's when they started coming out with different versions of popular games like Scooby Doo Clue and Disney Monoploy. They also released some classic anniversary editions in nice tins with super detailed figures so I added Candyland to my collection too. Needless to say I didn't realized years later I would be sharing these with my own daughter, but here I am. Guess I was preparing for the future.

Sometime in December we introduced Candyland to Sophie and she loves it! Who doesn't really, it's a magical, colorful land with candy stops along the way. I love it because she practices her colors and counting plus of course she's learning patience and good sportsmanship. Trust me, I do not let her win. She wins and loses on her own and she wins often.

I was trying to come up with a fun, cool card for the Moxie Fab Challenge - Make Your Own Background Paper after we got done playing on night and I decided I wanted to do something colorful-Candyland colorful. So I broke out every (okay not every but a lot) Happy Birthday stamp I had and came up with this rainbow of color creation. This was SO not the easiest card to make LOL. I must have stamped 3-4 "samples" before I found the right pattern and placement for each stamp.

I cut strips of cardstock and layered them in rainbow fashion as my background. I figure there was enough color and Happy Birthdays on the card that I stamped "To You!" in brown. Though I did create the rainbow colored banner it sits on. Hee hee...

Finishing touches include sprinkles of rhinestone all in matching colors and a red and white twine bow. I seriously tried to make a bow from all 6 colors but it was overkill so red and white won.

Hope you like my little creation...on a side note: board games are still awesome and I highly recommend you play one soon. Even if it's with a bunch of adults!

Be Mine Again....

Anyone notice a theme here? LOL, all my posts so far are for Valentines Day! Yup...got to love a day created to celebrate love.

I used the Be Mine Collection from Echo Park. It's so pretty and fanciful, one can not help but be in love. I fussy cut the " so in love with you" from a piece of 12x12 cardstock, trying to leave some of the swirls and flourishes in tact.

I created a faux lace border using Martha Stewarts Doliy Lace punch and white cardstock. This technique is super easy, fun and looks gorgeous! You can see more about it in this post here.

I also added some little pearls here and there as well as small heart stickers and a small butterfly. VoliĆ”...easy, gorgeous card for the one you love!

Bee Mine

Who's ready for the weekend? We sure are....though being a stay at home mom almost everyday is the weekend lol. Thankfully the weather here has been warmer and nice...gotta love Southern California. Here is my take on the Tuesday Trigger: Sweet Dreams over at the Moxie Fab World blog.

This sweet little bee was cut from Create a Critter and the hearts from Sweethearts cartridge. I added glitter glue to the wings for some sparkle and used foam dots for some lift and dimmension. The background papers are from Echo Park's Country Drive collection.

I stamped out the "Bee Mine" using an alphabet set from Doodlebug Designs. I then faux stitched the edges all around. Super simple and cute!

Here is the inspiration photo....isn't it so inviting and cozy? I LOVE it!
I took inspiration from the colors...blue, yellow and fuchsia. There's still time to play!

Have an amazing weekend! Thanks for stopping by =)

Be Mine

Hi everyone! Wow, it's been almost a month since I've posted anything and it is nice to be back. I hope everyone had an amazing holiday and new year! We certainly did although I am making a resolution to do less for the holidays this year so I can get out of the kitchen. Making Cheese and Chicken Enchiladas for Christmas Eve and Moussaka and Baklava for Christmas Dinner plus all the cookies (5 different kinds including decorated sugar cookies) and pumpkin bread kept me in the kitchen for 3 days. Granted I put it all on myself but that's just me =).

So here is my first (posted) card of 2013 and I've got to say I am in love with it. I would love for DH to give me something like this for Valentine's Day. It's so whimsical and cute.

I created the banner with scraps of cardstock and cut doily. I used foam tape to give the banners lift and added some bling. Red and white twine bows add the cutest touch don't you think?

The "be mine" is actually printed on vellum. I think it looks pretty cool against the heart cardstock. The little heart in the middle is a epoxy heart sticker that says "4-ever".
